Coralie Calvet (PhD)

Coralie Calvet holds a PhD in Economics, with a specialization in ecological economics and the evaluation of environmental public policies. She is also a graduate agronomist.

Her research focuses on public, private and citizen responses to the ecological crisis and on the conditions that determine the effectiveness of environmental management instruments and biodiversity conservation policies.

Research career

• Since 2023 – Lecturer and researcher at AgroParisTech, within the Environmental Management Unit (G-ENV).
• 2019 – Postdoctoral research at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER), Dresden, and at the European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER), Karlsruhe.
• 2016–2018 – Postdoctoral research at the University of Montpellier, Centre for Environmental Economics – Montpellier (CEEM), in collaboration with LaSTIG-IGN.

Coralie Calvet’s research is grounded in ecological socio-economics and examines public, private and citizen responses to the ecological crisis and biodiversity loss.

Her work seeks in particular to understand the conditions under which environmental public policies and management instruments emerge and become effective, the strategies of the actors involved, and social demand for forms of spatial planning that better address ecological issues.

• The mitigation hierarchy (Avoid–Reduce–Offset), biodiversity offsets and “No Net Loss” policies.

Current research projects

• 2024–2027 – Principal investigator of the interdisciplinary ÉVEIL and ÉLAN projects, funded by the French Foundation for Biodiversity Research (FRB) and ADEME under the ITTECOP programme.

These projects examine French citizen movements for environmental justice and ecological struggles, including the territorial conditions of their emergence, their forms of organization, modes of action and effectiveness, as well as the place given to biodiversity and non-human entities within these mobilizations.

• 2020–2021 – CONAQUAT programme: assessment of the contribution of digital and genetic tools to environmental assessment.
