The issues of deforestation and degradation of tropical forests are at the forefront of the international agenda, particularly projects aimed at reducing global warming through REDD initiatives.
The research examines methodological questions surrounding the implementation and evaluation of REDD mechanisms. It focuses on the Suruí Forest Carbon Project in the indigenous territory of Sete de Setembro, Rondônia, Brazilian Amazon, and seeks to assess its environmental effectiveness by combining carbon-accounting approaches with analysis of local land management.
